In Memory

Only a Memory

Your smile, your laughter
...Only a memory.
Your voice, your personality
...Only a memory.

Sometimes people mention your name.
Some just keep quiet.
But no matter what is or isn’t said.
You’re always on someone’s mind.

Many years have gone by,
But it seems like only yesterday,
You were by your family’s side.

We can only think of whom you’d be,
To us, you only remain a memory.

It’s been a while since you’ve been gone.
For your friends and family, things just aren’t the same.
It still doesn’t seem real.
Who holds the blame?

If love could have saved you,
You’d still be here today.
The love we hold for you,
Will never change.

As you lay in a still rest,
God broke our hearts to prove he took the best.
Everything you did, everything you were.
It’s only a memory.

Does anyone know what happened to Tom? I'm glad you posted these, but very sad indeed...

I believe Tom died in a car accident. I heard this, but if anyone knows for sure, please update this blog.

Yes, Tom was in a car accident. The strange thing is that Tyler, his son, lives very close to us and is good friends with my boys. Heres the story. This kid starts hanging around so i kind of took him in. The boys were all playing and hanging out one day. I decided id get some info on him so i just started asking some ?'s. Small world - he tells me his dad went to Boylan but was no longer living. So, i asked him, "Who is your dad?" He tells me, "Tom Vaughn." My eyes filled with tears because i knew then that Tyler never had a real chance to get to know his dad. Tyler was just a baby. I shared some moments with him of his dad and ever since i feel something every time Tyler comes around. God and Tom sent him our way for a reason. He's a good kid and looks just like his Dad. Tom, we will always miss you!

His older son was friends with Jake our oldest, too! Before and after Tom passed. I actually got to know Tom a little better before the accident. Good heart, good guy, wrong places at the wrong time. I truely think if given the time he was on the right track and headed toward a better life. Its ashame we lost him when we did.
